Can Claude host my website? It depends where you made it

Partly. On paid plans, you can share a page Claude makes as a link, but it isn't built to host a whole app, like the one Claude Code built in your project folder. What you can do depends on where you made it.

Free during the private beta. No card. We open accounts by hand, a few at a time.

If you're asking "can Claude host my website?", the answer depends on which part of Claude made it. Claude chat, Claude Design and Claude Code each share things differently, and ChatGPT has its own option. I build fline, a hosting service for apps people make with Claude Code, so I have a stake in this question. I'll say where fline fits, and where something else fits better.

Can Claude host a website it made in a chat?

On paid plans, you can share what Claude makes in a chat as a link, but Anthropic's help article on sharing artifacts doesn't describe connecting a web address you own. Anthropic calls a page or small tool that Claude makes for you an artifact.

  • Artifacts start private to you.
  • On Pro and Max plans, you can share one by link, and the help article says the people who open it need a Claude account.
  • An artifact that uses Claude itself, or connects to your other apps, can't be shared that way.
  • One made in a chat before September 16, 2026 can still be published on the Free, Pro and Max plans, for anyone with the link, no Claude account needed.

Can Claude Design publish my website?

Claude Design shares a design with the people you choose, and to put it on a website it hands the design to another service. It makes designs, prototypes and one-pagers as you chat with Claude.

Its Export button offers files such as standalone HTML and PDF, and it can send the design to services including Vercel, Netlify, Replit and Wix. It can also hand the design to Claude Code. If that gives you a project folder that runs on your computer, the next section is for you.

Can Claude Code host a website?

Claude Code can publish a single page, but it isn't built to host the app in your project folder. On your computer, Claude Code works in your project folder, editing files and running commands. Your app runs there too, so its preview opens only on your computer.

The page Claude Code can publish is called an artifact: a live, interactive web page at a private address on claude.ai, which you can share. Anthropic's guide to Claude Code artifacts describes it as one self-contained page with no backend, the hidden part of an app that does work like signing people in. For a tool with a backend, the guide points you to hosting of your own.

So to put your app online, Claude Code needs a host to send it to, and you name the host when you ask.

Why your app only works on your computer explains the preview, and what changes once your app is online.

Can ChatGPT host a website?

Yes, on some plans. ChatGPT Sites lets you build, preview, publish and share websites and small apps from ChatGPT.

  • It's available on ChatGPT Plus and Pro and in supported Business and Enterprise workspaces. It isn't available on Free or Go.
  • A Site can keep a database.
  • A public Site opens for anyone, without a ChatGPT sign-in.
  • Where custom domains are available, you can connect a web address you already own.

If you built your site in ChatGPT, OpenAI's help article on ChatGPT Sites is the place to start. fline can't take a project from a chat.

When does a website need a host?

Your website needs a host of its own, not a share link, when it's an app rather than a page to look at. A host is a place where your app lives online, so other people can open it. You want one when:

  • people should open it at a web address you own, like www.yourbakery.com;
  • it has more than one page, or parts that run out of sight;
  • it signs people in, and each person should see only their own sign-ups, bookings or orders;
  • it uses a secret key for another service, like payments or email, which has to stay where visitors can't see it.

If that sounds like the app Claude Code built on your computer, how to get your Claude Code app online walks through every step.

Where fline fits

fline is hosting for apps you build with Claude Code on your own computer: your app works there, and now you want people using it.

  1. Connect. Paste one line from your fline dashboard into your computer's Terminal app, then approve fline in your browser.

  2. Ask. Tell Claude Code:

    Paste this into Claude Code
    Put this project online with fline.

    fline works out how to build and run your app, so there are no setup files to write.

  3. Send the link. Your app gets its own link with the padlock. It opens on any phone or computer.

If your app needs a password or key, Claude Code gives you a link to a private fline page where you type it, not in the chat. The guide on giving Claude Code your API keys explains why. If your app needs to remember things, Claude Code can have fline create a database of your own, and fline runs it. Your app can have a web address you own, like www.yourbakery.com, and fline sets up the padlock. If something breaks later, ask Claude Code again: it can see what went wrong, try a fix, or put an earlier version back.

Claude Code in your Terminal app, the Code tab of the Claude desktop app, and Codex have each been tested with fline from start to finish.

A few things fline doesn't do yet. It can't take a project from a chat, an app builder or a GitHub link: it needs the folder on your computer. Your app's link is public, so an app with private information needs its own sign-in. During the private beta every app runs on one rented machine, with no uptime promise and no backups you can count on yet, so it suits trying your app with your first users. The full list is in what fline does today.

fline is free during the private beta, with no card. Claude Code's own plan is separate: its work on your app uses that plan as usual. We open accounts by hand, a few at a time, and getting your account explains the emails you'll get. fline is independent and isn't made by Anthropic.

Questions people ask

Does Claude Code have a publish button?

On paid Claude plans, Claude Code publishes a page when you ask for an artifact, at a private address on claude.ai that you can share. Anthropic describes an artifact as one self-contained page with no backend, so it isn't a way to put the app in your project folder online. For that, Claude Code needs a host. With fline, you connect Claude Code to your fline account, then ask it to put your project online with fline.

Does Claude host websites for free?

Claude can make pages and small tools, called artifacts, in a chat on every plan. Sharing a new one by link needs a paid plan, and Anthropic says viewers need a Claude account. One made in a chat before September 16, 2026 can still be published on the Free plan for anyone with the link. Anthropic's help pages don't describe connecting a web address you own. fline, for apps built with Claude Code, is free during the private beta, with no card.

I made my site in ChatGPT. Can fline put it online?

Not today. fline puts online a project that is a folder on your computer, sent by an AI coding app such as Claude Code. A chat in your browser can't reach that folder, so it can't send fline your project. fline can't take a project from an app builder such as Lovable or Bolt either. If you're on ChatGPT Plus or Pro, ChatGPT Sites can publish sites you build in ChatGPT.

Can I use my own web address with fline?

Yes. A www address, like www.yourbakery.com, works with any domain company, and fline sets up the padlock and renews it. You add one record at the company where you bought the address. Your fline dashboard shows which record to add and keeps checking for 48 hours, and Claude Code can attach the address and check it for you. An address without www works today if your domain is with Cloudflare. With other companies, use a www address.

Is fline made by Anthropic?

No. fline is independent and isn't made by Anthropic, the company that makes Claude and Claude Code. It's a hosting service in private beta for people who build apps with Claude Code on their own computer. Accounts are opened by hand, a few at a time, as room opens. fline is free during the private beta, with no card.

What fline does today

Until your account opens, we only email you about getting in: a confirmation when you join and an email when your account opens. Once your account is open, fline also sends a welcome, up to three short emails to help you get started (each stops once you've done that step), and emails about your launches. Every one of these has an unsubscribe link. No newsletter. No tracking script on this page, and your IP address is kept only as a salted hash. What we store
